Hover Translate is a Chrome browser extension that translates webpage text when you hover your mouse over it. This Privacy Policy explains clearly what data is involved, how it is used, and what we do not collect.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

Hover Translate does not collect, store, transmit, or share any of the following:

Your identity, name, or personal information
Your browsing history or visited URLs
Your location data
Financial or payment information
Cookies or tracking identifiers
Any data that identifies you as an individual

No data is ever sent to the extension developer or any server operated by Team MakeWorldHappy.

3. Text Sent to Translation Providers

When you hover over text on a webpage, that specific text is sent to the translation provider you have selected in the extension settings. This is the core function of the extension. The text sent is only the phrase you hovered over — not the full page, not your URL, not your identity.

4. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The following is stored only on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API. It never leaves your browser and is never accessible to the developer:

Your extension settings (language preference, provider choice, theme)
A local translation cache (to avoid repeating the same API call twice)
API keys you optionally enter for DeepL or Azure (stored locally only)

5. Permissions Explained

storage — saves your settings and cache locally on your device only
contextMenus — adds a right-click "Translate" option to the browser menu
host permissions (all URLs) — required to detect hovered text on any webpage and to make API calls to your chosen translation provider

6. No Tracking, No Ads, No Analytics

Hover Translate contains no tracking code, no advertising networks, and no analytics services of any kind.

7. Children's Privacy

This extension does not knowingly collect any data from children under the age of 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

If this Privacy Policy is updated, the new version will be posted at this same URL with an updated date.
